Hi, becoming a member / joining, isn’t about us screening people for quality riding partners.
Rather, BCADV will never be a club where you (1) create a profile in the forum, (2) pay $30, then (3) have access to club stuff without us having never met you in real life. That is, only joining for the discounts. Rather, we won’t take your money until we’ve met you in the real world. This forces people to make the effort to actually show up for “something,” and we can put a face to a name vs being another online space with nameless, faceless randos. The Board has been discussing each of us having a printed QR code for Zelle or similar, and only taking dues payments at in person events vs the system we’re running with here.
Anyway, since you’ve made the investment in showing up IRL to 2x ADV 101 classes, I sez you’re good to join. Welcome aboard.
That said, I can definitely see a time when we actually don’t let someone join, or even kick someone out based on our evaluation of them in the real world – irresponsible on the trail or just a DB in general.
BCADV is committed to being a DB Free Zone (tm, sticker in process).

Forgot to put paid on here. When I sent the dues. Paid.

Yall don’t have to report it because we have the financial records. But! It’s a fun source of social pressure to do it here.

Good morning, Rich.
Thanks very much for getting back to me so quickly regarding my request for membership while I’m still unable to ride due to three surgeries in the past 4 months. That said, I fully intend to attend the March intro to ADV. with luck, I’ll be riding again by mid April-May.
Since you’re amenable to my joining BCADV, under the circumstances, is there a means of paying my $30 if I am not fluent in Zelle. I do use Venmo and PayPal comfortably. Might one of those work?
Thanks for considering.
Tom Gordon
Please read my original post at the top of this thread. Info is there! Thanks.
Hey Team -
We have something like 45 folks who have paid dues out of the gate. Chapeau! Thanks for being a core part of this community; it’s inspiring for me, and I hope you all get as much from it as I do over the years. This membership gives us the budget to run this private, focused, ad-free forum and our website for the year, and that was the goal. Good work!
The Board chatted about it this morning, and given the mega support out of the gate, we want to make everyone who gets their dues in by March 31 a founding member, with the patch and all the associated glory.
So! Get your dues paid by the end of this month, and you’ll join the rarified and almost certainly distinguished ranks of BCADV founding members.
LFG!
