In a past life I owned a triathlon coaching company(s) for about 20yrs. I coached and trained the Ironman distance, and left that world in 2017. Most of my athletes, and I, have transitioned from hard core endurance training to a focus more on longevity and overall health and fitness as we age.
Last October I rallied about 130 of my former athletes in a Discourse server to create our own Sober October accountability group. I created a ton of educational content for them and it was afun opportunity to reconnect with them and that time in my life.
Would there be interest in me doing that again in this space?
Basically, 31 days to lock in daily fitness and other habits you want to maintain after the challenge ends, and along the way learning a ton about cardio and resistance training, how to smartly improve body composition, and more. I’ve found the format of group accountability, support, and instruction to be very valuable.
Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll create a specific space for this and possibly other future related topics.
I’ve been doing weights, Les Mills Body Pump, stretching, and sculpt yoga since returning from the BoCOBDR. Liking the returns already. I will not however commit to zero booze. I’ve done Dryuary then Dampuary. Nothing changes though. Same sleep, etc.
It’s more about setting some goals for yourself, establishing some beginning metrics, creating a daily list of actions that you are committed to executing daily, and then relying on the group for accountability as you make progress across the month.
Bonus if it does or does not involve abstinence from alcohol. The larger intent is to commit yourself to a focused period self improvement, develop new habits, and make them permanent by adhering to them for 30 days
I’m in, I just celebrated 10 years no booze yesterday and am heading to the gym when the wife gets home for the first time in a couple years. Your timing couldn’t be better
Awesome! I’ll carve out some time to start a new category to host this and other fitness / riding technique discussions, and repurpose the content I created for my reformed-Ironman group last year.
Thanks for your interest. I’ll be hooking this stuff up today and/or this weekend. Sorry for the delay, been busy with the rebranding of my business. Thx
I like it! The “Get To Work!!” fitness ethos is empowering.
I don’t drink alcohol, do THC, DMT, coke, etc. for the past 20+ years. A few years ago I experimented with holotropic breathing.
I am keto centric and I work out with a personal trainer 2-3 times a week, swim laps, run, ski, stand up in a ready active position on my moto for prolonged stretches. I don’t really have fitness goals, per se, beyond keeping up that regimen as a maintenance goal. Some beach muscles would be nice but it’s really not my body type. Ectomorph here. Mostly I try not to hurt myself or anyone else.
If anyone is interested in a 3 week Keto program to help drop 10 lbs. I know a good nutritionist with such a program …box o’ food, weekly virtual coaching. I get nothing but good vibes from this recommendation.
