We’re going to get the BCADV 501(c)(7) bank account opened this week, and the Board will figure out a rudimentary way to track membership - likely just a spreadsheet since it’s low traffic, and we won’t have to touch it more than once a year in general.
With that in mind, once you are a Full Member ($30/year) you’ll get access to all of our Club-friendly vendor (aka PARTNERS & SPONSORS ) discounts, which currently include Rocky Talkie (20%), Motorsport Masters (10%), Colorado Mountain Club (medical training discounts), and now I’m happy to announce Mosko Moto with 10% off all Mosko products.
This is just one example of the value of doing this as a club vs a free FB group.
We have just under 200 people registered in this forum. Gino and Chris (they’re both fucking machines on the bizdev side of things) have been able to parlay this into a 10% discount with Mosko. How easy is it to drop $1k or more on bags and apparel? Much more stuff is in the works.
Meanwhile, there are at least 2x large FB ADV groups in CO, with probably a combined 15k “members” that have done nothing like this for their members. And, to be honest, they can’t, because the nature of FB means that they can’t easily control who has access to what content on their pages. In addition, no classes, no well organized rides, multiday camping weekends, etc.
As I said at the class on Tuesday, this is just how things were done (a formal club, with dues, exclusive access to members-only resources and discounts) before social media created default shit platforms, to aggregate people of similar interests, so they can sell their attention to advertisers. These are not community building platforms. They are attention harvesting and selling platforms.
