As a new rider, with the budget for one kit, I opted for an ADV road-capable kit (KLIM Baja S4 - thanks Marketplace…). I put all my eggs in the abrasion basket.
Now that I am riding more dirt, I find myself wishing for less gear on me (heat mainly), and more impact protection.
So what’s the solution? Ride to the trail fully kitted and switch a jersey + body armor? Ride to the trail in a Jersey + armor and forego abrasion protection?
I’ve considered doing my street pants and a jersey with armor.
What do you do? Anything I’m not considering? I’m not keen nor do I have the resources to trailer my bike btw.

What boots are you wearing? Your feet and lower legs are the most vulnerable body parts when DS and ADV riding. Highly, highly recommend you go with a super beefy MX boot and just deal with the squeaking and/or heavy weight. I’m in my 3 pair of Sidi Crossfires in over 20yrs of riding. They entire boot can be rebuilt, with replaceable parts.

Yep. It’s a good boot for general ADV/DS riding.
in terms of gear, once you land on some general ideas, it might be worth posting “want/need” list to this group. There is a lot of unused gear floating around among us…
