For the first couple years of the club, we often did an informal Sunday morning ride that we called Dirt Church. It was always chill, never more than a couple hours, and often a decide-and-ride affair where we’d meet up, shoot the shit for a few minutes, and figure out a rough sketch to ride familiar stuff, or sometimes explore in a chosen direction. The time of departure was the only true hard rule of the day. Sometimes there was an A and B ride, and sometimes just a B/C+ ride depending on who all showed up, but there was always a ride.
The idea Rich and I had for Dirt Church on Sundays, and the Stick it to the Man rides on Fridays at 3pm (start at Circle K, end at Gold Hill Store) was that there’d be a weekly recurring ride that happened with little to no planning, and folks could just show up at the same time and place every week knowing there’d be a ride going off - similar to the bike shop ‘Shop ride’ model: same time, same place, every single week.
Is there interest in bringing this back? The key to this working is that people show up. Obviously.
We’d like to hear your thoughts about bringing back the weekly recurring rides, knowing that Rich and I will often not be leading the rides. ![]()
