Alternative route around Cheesman reservoir

I’m working on as much of an off pavement route from my place to BV. There was an old road marked on the maps but I checked things out yesterday and it is indeed closed.

Does anyone know of an alternative through that area or better yet, have a dirt (mostly) route to BV

Well I found the answer through exploring. All of the older roads around Cheeseman Reservoir are blocked or gated by Denver Water.:weary_face:

I’ve been working on a dirt route to BV, and have gone this way. It is a little bit of everything, and I mean everything. Steep Loose singletrack, a mile or two of pavement crossings here and there, a lot of wide open graded gravel roads with very little traffic, and some fun two track mixed in.

I don’t have a gpx to offer at this time, but the indicated route is worth exploring if you’re open to widely varied terrain and like playing the “get there on dirt at almost any cost” game.

Nevermind, looks like you found a similar route, just saw your ride report after posting this.

Thanks! That’s more of less what I came up with.

The dirt roads between Wellington and down to Lake George are awesome! Fun, not hard, and gorgeous!!!

Agree. It was a nice surprise!
