I’m just putting feelers out to see if there’s interest from camp-curious folks, or from people like me jonesing to get out, to do our first local S24O (Sub-24hr-overnighter) of 2026. Not familiar with S24O’s? My buddy Grant coined the term a couple decades ago-ish in the bicycle world: S24Os - Adventure Cycling Association
April 11, I’m happy to lead a ride to somewhere close and easy for folks to dip their toes into what it’s like to camp - maybe some place like Carter Lake or similar that has a few campgrounds, even with pit toilets. Depending on how many of us come along, I can reserve a group spot. The idea would be to do some sort of decent-but-easy ride that starts early afternoon on Saturday 4/11, then we set up camp while it’s still daylight, hang out for the night, and head back home the next morning. Or, ride again before heading home. Or, ride to breakfast.
Don’t have gear, or enough gear? Ask the group. These early season overnighters are a great way to test gear, and there’s no lack of gear to borrow/try in this group for a short overnighter.
SO: is you is, or is you ain’t down for an April 11 overnighter?
- Let’s do it! I need to sleep in the dirt.
- Nah, I’m good. SNL is on that night.
