Looking for simple rear fender rack luggage solution

I want a simple way to secure my tools to rear fender of the 500, so I don’t have to run the Tusk Traverse side bags all the time.

My kit:

I’ve seen some options from NiceCNC, Giant Loop, and Tusk.

Looking for simple and low profile. Any recs?

Check out the sherpa rack from Nomad adv. It’s a Dutch company. There are option side racks for a set up like the wreckless 40-80. I haven’t put those on yet. Top plate is easily removable. The support rack on the rear stays in place.

Mosko trail 16s are pretty sweet too.

Thx but that’s a bit more than what I’m looking for. Use cases are:

  • A place to strap down my tool kit, using Volle straps
  • Ability to secure the rear of Tusk Traverse bags, using Volle straps.
  • If I’m doing CC camping, I have an old WM enduro duffel that would be strapped to this.

While I have camped off the 500 (with Gen1 Reckless 40), I just don’t see that happening again any time soon.

IOW, the rack is really just a “thing” to strap shit too, not really weight bearing

Get a strip molle and and drill some holes through the fender!

I’ve been using these on my dirt bikes forever. Work great. They make a bigger one too.

Not orange and not carbon fiber

You should trade that 500 in for a gen 1 KLR too. No replacement for displacement ombré.

I like that it’s small and not easily expanded. I never like the idea of putting a rack on a bike that wasn’t meant to have one. What did you say, “nature hates a void”?

This and a small handlebar bag holds everything I want to bring on a dirt bike.

Elmer Fudd called. He wants his blaze orange KTM back…

Decided I’m going to put the same Mosko Mosko anchors on the fender and just secure the 5L Aux Pox bag I use on the 790 to the fender of the 500 using an orange Volle strap. This way I’m just moving the same bag back and forth between bikes. Bag contains tool pouch, tow strap and trail stand

Somebody rides/rode a KLR :joy:

Rich, I’m using Kriega OS Rack Loops with the US 10 or 20 Kriega dry pack, “depending on what I’m carrying.” You will need to drill into your rear fender. Cheers. Kriega OS-Rack Loops – Kriega USA

Thx. I thought about that route as I have a 10L Kriega bag that stays on the 790.

Instead I just remounted the Mosko strap points on the bike, using them to secure my tool bag. The bag has molle on the back so I thread the strap through that.

I can use the hardware to secure the Tusk Traverse bags when I want more capacity
