It’s my first 2- stroke so any and all unsolicited advise is welcome. It’s got 75 hours. Thing generally looks good. Just needs some TLC before hitting the trails. might take it out to main draw this weekend for a shakedown.
My murdered out WR250R will be going up on FB marketplace at some point. If you’re interested, DM me. I’ll sell it to one of you fine gentlemen cheaper than what I’d let your random nose picker take it for.
I have to get used to it. I turned the power value all the way in and had it on the muted map switch and it still wheelies on the street with not that much throttle lol
Very different than my Beta 300, it sounds like. The whole “rideability” thing that Beta pushes is real - all smooth torquey bottom-end. Would love to sample the KTM for comparison, never ridden one of their 2Ts. Another agenda item for this much-discussed IMI bike swap day! Have fun in the meantime.
I road the x trainer in Moab and can definitely vouch for that “rideability” thing. Very approach motorcycle. Once I get this thing worked on a bit more would be happy to go for a ride
My buddy has a pair of those 300 xcws. He is a really good rider and former Motocross racer. I was riding Rampart with him this past weekend. He says those bikes are the absolute pinnacle of performance for colorado trail riding. He also says that you need to have serious throttle control and that even an experienced rider needs to be careful when they’re fatigued at the end of the day, because the bike can get away from you. He’s intent on getting me on one of his for a trail ride. It’ll probably be at Penrose. I’m excited to see what it’s like!
^^ have a gasgas 300ex. Super nice bike and has more power than fuck all but have looped it multiple times just from being lazy and grabbing a handful of throttle accidentally. I’ve heard the TSP kit can really transform the bikes into either a super luggable machine or even crazier.
Congrats on getting the KTM 300! I have been drouling and dreaming over the 300 specs for the last year. I’m just undecided on adding smaller 2 stroke vs larger ADV bike. The 300 would be my 3rd bike but I am considering a T7 or a 890 for bigger adventure trail bike too. How do you like your T7?
I like the T7 quite a bit. It’s less expensive than an 890, easy to work on, parts readily available, no complicated electronics, linear power delivery. I’m happy with its performance. Does what I need it to do.
