Rich’s BDR Hitchhiking Saturday a.m.

This Saturday morning I’m thinking about sucker-fishing out with Rich’s Big Ol’ BDR ride, and doing Fall River Road etc., and then maybe coming back over Trail Ridge through RMNP. My wife is heading to Iceland Friday, so my ride will be five hours max because I am on double dog duty.

Anyone want to join me?

If the KLR is up and running absolutely!

I’d love to! .. If it was Sunday :frowning:

We are KSU from the Lyon’s Circle K at 0730.

Anyone who wants to join us for the ride out is welcome. I’d just ask you to ride at the back of the group when we go through the gates of RMNP, as I’ll be paying the one-way fee for my campers. You guys are on your own…

We’ll be riding Fall River Rd, regrouping at the Trail Ridge Rd vistor center, then carrying on with our ride. You guys can flip it and go back via Trail Ridge, or do something else.

@mulebarn Im still down for the count on the KLR. Turns out the cam chain needs replaced and my valve shims are out of spec (go figure). Going to do it right and do it once this time so back to ordering parts I go…. Weeee

I might… my plans are in flux.

Can you share the whole route please? As I’m not able to join at that time and would like to ride it another time

I had a pretty awesome encounter with a massive bull elk on Fall River Rd a few weeks back. It was in one of the tighter sections, and he was pissed that I was on the road between him and where he wanted to be. It could have gotten spicy, but thankfully, a truck rolled up, blocked and tackled for me so I could sneak around him.

I am planning on doing a similar ride Saturday AM, but I will likely be passing through Lyons closer to 6AM… maybe I should sleep in a bit and join yall.

@Rich_Strauss and BDR trip homies: the fire has forced a route change for you. I just saw this on the official BDR group:

Important Update: #COBDR

🚨Section 5: Bypass Required for Wildfire Closure
The Derby Fire is burning just north of Gypsum CO and closures and evacuations are in place.

✅ Colorado River Road (301) is closed for evacuations and riders must avoid this road as well as the Trail Gulch ALT Harder.

✅ From Gypsum, take Interstate 70 east to Wolcott, then Hwy 131 north to rejoin the tracks at State Bridge.

Yep, already mapped out an alternate that drops us into Vail
