Ride this weekend?

9am meet-up works for me. Either route is good, just need to know which so I can choose a bike. I prefer Switz because that keeps the ride closer to home but I will join the crew on either ride.

9 works for me as well. I’ll be on a GSA so big bike friendly is good.

9 am is good. I will bring 350 or 701.

Sounds good. What sort of trails have you been doing on the GS?

I rode on Rich’s BDR trip in August with the Alpine Loop and what not. Locally switz, 68j, rollins pass, mammoth gulch.

Here’s the Johnny Park to Pierson Route. Its a short day

Can meet at Lyons gas station 9am if that works for folks

The gas station next to the distillery?

Yup, that’s the one.

KSU say 915a.

Sweet. See everyone in AM. Shouldn’t take long to get through, and folks can either head back Highway 7, or follow me to 36. Can always jump to Pole hill for some A-Fun. But I have a short AM, so I’ll be heading out after.

Couple notes since I’m not sure who has done Johnny Park or Pierson:

Johnny Park:

Pretty easy now. There’s 2 entrances, I’ll be taking first. Has a little more fun, solid B+ due to a hill climb. 2nd entrance option will bring you right into the ‘parking’ area, and everything from here is pretty solid B, and Bike-Bike friendly.

Nothing as hard as 68J gatekeeper. More fun than switz rocky hell.

Pierson:
Graded road for 1/3, with decent descent on some loose rock. This is my only cautionary area as a newer rider. Easy on small bike, but take it slow on larger. After that, it’s a B+ trail.

Nothing as hard as 68J gatekeeper either. Descent in one part can be a little pucker-y. Little steeper than back of west-mag, but similar surface.

Sorry man. Glad you got back safe!

This was one of ‘those’ rides. We had 2 people drop, 2 bikes with broken stuff, 1 flat, and some loose spokes. But… no rain!

Glad home safe and all ok. Minor flesh wounds on the bike. Good to meet you.

John - thanks for arranging. Like that route and good mix of everything and nice to be off all rocks!

Mark/Mason - sorry we left. Wasn’t sure what to do and radios were out of range. Hope all ok

It’s all good. That tire was a bear to get changed. We’ll get out again. Glad everyone made it home safely.

Yes, it was one of “those rides” for sure. lol.

Thanks again John for setting it up.

Glad everyone is ok! Speaking for myself it was a good reminder to be just a little more prepared. How many times am I going to learn that lesson? Oh well the shorter ride gave me time to prep the bike for tomorrow and get the van loaded up for an early start tomorrow.
