kind of a long thread, but @Jimmy_Changa shared routes. We’ll do option 1, we can chat about pole hill in the AM
Yep, I can do that. Maybe start at 8, and go for 2-3 hrs.
99.4% interested, like the earlier start, supposed to be cooking
Yep.
yeah, might be down for an earlier day. Been so hot… that return to 5k ft elevation is brutal on the weekends
I am a strong maybe for this - confirming meetup is at Spruce Confections?
Yeah, Spruce to meet, roll at 8.
I was thinking take Switzerland North from the top all they way down.
in case you don’t figure it out, I’m not a morning person, but I’m down to early and try to beat some of the heat. But I won’t be there at 7 to get an iced coffee ![]()
I’m in for this. Been hella busy, havent been able to get out on any recent rides further out or moto socials, need some seat time and some time with the crew. It’s going to be a Norden fest if @BillMcGee joins.
Well now I have to let you down @Jimmy_Changa. The Norden is at CMA gettin tires and oil change. I’ll be on the five hundo.
Fyi for Sunday:
The Ned Gravel race is taking place on Sunday out of Nederland, and both the Gold and Tungsten courses use sections of the Switzerland Trail. Specifically:
- The Gold Course climbs Fourmile Canyon and then rides the Switzerland Trail before returning toward Gold Hill.
- The Tungsten Course actually uses the Switzerland Trail twice—once early via Sugarloaf Mountain Road and again later after climbing Fourmile Canyon.
The first riders start at 7:00 a.m., with additional waves at 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., so the busiest time on Switzerland Trail will generally be roughly 8:30 a.m. through early afternoon, depending on which section you’re riding.
If you’re just out for a recreational ride, I’d either:
- Ride very early (before the racers reach your section), or
- Choose a different route for Sunday if you want to avoid hundreds of riders.
Well that is great feedback and drastically changes the plan.
other ideas?
We shall overcome!
Maybe 68j to West Mag, or maybe Bunce to Jonny Park? Or if that’s too small-bike A-class, we work our way up to Tolland Road and do something up there?
Oh good, maybe I can try it.
Moon to Mammoth or other way around
Bunce to JP also good
Bunce is very A these days btw. The jp, poerson, pole is fun though
I’m up for anything. Let’s ride around the block.
Something really needs to be done about these damn bicyclers getting in the way of our riding!
And they need to carry insurance and license and registration, just like we do if they’re going to use OUR roads!!!
/sarcasm
I’ll say it again. Rich is just being a smart ass. Just in case anyone didn’t catch that. ![]()
Just catching up on this thread. The company that runs Ned Gravel is one of our partners at Distance to Empty. Let’s not go that way. Ha.
I didn’t make a track because we mostly wandered but yesterday @Kurdz2408 and I did a fun B/C route (with a bit of A that can easily be skipped) 100 mile loop without hitting any of the Ned Gravel stuff. Mostly around Gold Lake, Spring Gulch (the A section), and over to Peewink. I can try to make a track today if anyone is interested. Not sure yet if I can make it tomorrow.
