Planning to take the big bike around Mammoth and Moon Gulch, counterclockwise. If West Mag - 105.1 is open we’ll go down to Tolland that way on a trial and error basis unless I find the wherewithal to dig up actual information on trail closure status. It’s orange on COTREX, but I think it always is.
Could do lunch at Toss and then play the return by ear, perhaps P2P - Switz - Gold Hill General Store for a cookie, or Mag to 68J down, or just Mag down.
My main interest is getting in a rep on Moon - Mammoth, which I have only done once or twice. Open to any suggestions beyond that.
Level of difficulty: someone more seasoned than me will have to check my work here, since, again, I’ve only done the individual segments on this route once or twice. I would say the whole thing including 105.1 could be referred to as a B ride on a big bike. I could be wrong about 105.1.
If we don’t get clarity from a 105.1 vet, those with doubts can take P2P and we can rendezvous in Rollinsville before continuing on.
10:00 am rendezvous at Spruce in North Boulder for SCONES and BS, 10:30 KSU. For now. May revise to an earlier time.
WestMag is closed. The gate is very close to the campground so you’ll know very quickly if I’m wrong. . Intermediate on a big bike. I would not take a B rider on that if they were on a big bike.
Same with Moon Gulch. Curious to see how Mammoth. we got shut down with snow / ice about 2mi in 2wks ago
Bill is correct on the grading. It’s a lot. Switz is B. Mammoth is quite a bit harder with steepies, big loose rocks, etc. West Mag was closed when Paulo and I were up there a few days ago.
