Saturday, November 8, 2025: Bike Big Intermediate / Dual Sport Ride, Rainbow Falls and Westcreek

Do you hate rocks? Are you tired of rocks, rocks and more rocks? Wanna ride your ADV bike like a smaller DS? Yeah, me too…

Join me next Saturday for a sorta redux of the Intermediate ride I led down south in June. Rather than meeting in Sedalia we’ll meet/stage farther south, location TBD, to save ourselves from riding #xx miles on Rampart Range Rd at the end of a solid day of riding. IOW, less admin, more of the good stuff.

  • Start time: 9:30am meet and greet, 9:50am riders brief, 10am KSU ← hard start time, not a suggestion
  • Staging location: Mt Herman Trailhead here
  • Route: Tracks / Route is here
  • Post Ride bench racing: at the trailhead. Bring a camp chair, a snack, I’ll have Dales in the van fridge, bring a beer(s) to share

Who:

  • Big Bike (>650cc): solid intermediate
  • Small Bike (DS): Solid beginner to intermediate.
  • Pace: on the 1-10, Explorer to Ripper Scale, this is an 8+. I will keep a “spirited” pace at the front.

Are you IN?

  • Yes
  • No
  • Maybe So

Do you love time machines? Join Rich in the past for this great ride. Kidding. Love the Explore/Ripper inclusion dude. Awesome.

Sonufa…fixed, thanks for catching that

Serious question, this far south… is this something folks are trailering to?

I will likely trailer down

ok, this makes more sense to me now. Thanks. Might be down for this. Weather pending.

Interested but TBD for a few more days. I’ve dusted off my Flux Capacitor, in case it’s a go.

Interested on DS bike and weather is good enough.

8+ on the Rich Ripper scale is Moto GP pace for some of us

Accurate. Aka, solo ride lol

Solid maybe

@MotoiKandi come out on the 900 :+1:

Sounds fun. Staging from the Tomahawk TH or Mt Herman TH might be good options for trailering down.

If we have gpx we can do Explorer/stop and take photos pace.

Still pending weather… but if Chris and I go, that’s already an ‘explorer’ group that can provide a different pace for folks.

Don’t know Rampart very well. Got GMaps pins for these?

Yep…

Tomahawk: South of Sedalia, East side of Rampart, on Rim Rd. Access from Jackson Creek Rd off of Hway 105.

Mt Herman TH: Directly off of I-25 @ Monument. Almost directly East of West Creek trail system. Access South end of Rampart from Mt Herman Rd.

Assuming weather is good I am in. I haven’t ridden down there in a long time.

For anyone who knows Westcreek well: I’d like to include a legit hill climb on the route, as a fun challenge / team building exercise :flexed_biceps::grimacing:.

Any recommendations? GPS coordinates, etc would be most helpful.

I did one in the area with another group but it was ages ago and I don’t recall location.

I’m in. never done this ride before but looks good. I’ll trailer down there from Lafayette and bring the 500. I can haul one other bike and am down for commuting if anyone want to ride along.
