The Problem With Knock-off Parts

I just finished listening to this, and it’s refreshing to hear how transparent the owner of Perun Moto is about his business, their process, and how companies like NiceCNC affect small niche manufacturers around the world.

I always try to support the small guys even when they’re more expensive (and the quality is there) - for the simple reason that I’ve always wanted to put my dollars into things/companies that I want to see in the world. Vote with your wallet, be the change to you want to see, etc. I also understand that perspective ain’t for everyone!

Curious to hear others’ thoughts on this one.

I have a Perun Moto rear rack and Alt Rider foot pegs and clutch actuator arm on my Tuareg, but my folding shorty CNC clutch / brake levers and folding rear brake pedal tip are Chinese manufactured eBay purchases. I look for innovative, quality products where I can from cottage brands. For more generic parts I’ll consider alternatives. The differentiation is in the last 10-15% of the design and execution, and in many cases that is worth the cost premium over of the alternative.
