December ride at elevation

22 December: Rode around Bunce school road near Peak to Peak, parachute hill, and some forest roads around Allenspark. Mostly tried to avoid the snow. Not a lot of it which was nice. No surprises that the gate to Johnny Park was closed.

If you’re planning on riding up that way, there is SOME snow but mostly avoidable for the sections I rode. Keep in mind temperatures are 10-20 degrees colder up at that elevation compared to Boulder / Longmont.

Picture is my T7 with Mt Meeker in the background.

Rode Rampart yesterday (22nd). Great conditions with very minor ice in just a few locations.

I also rode the foothills yesterday. I wanted to test some cold weather gear but it was too warm even at elevation. I HATE winter and look forward to retirement as I plan to never be cold again but this is just weird. I’ve been in Colorado over 20 years and have never been able to ride dirt the week of Xmas.

Yeah dude, weird times.

Weirdness continues. Did a little loop of Fourmile, Switzerland, Gold Hill and back to Fourmile. Zero snow. There was a lot of crap on the trail though.

@Paulo and I rode up past Gold Hill toward P2P, but were turned back a few days ago due to an ice sheet that was probably 100m long. It was right at the top of Gold Hill Rd. before you start dropping back down to P2P. Otherwise everything was dry and dusty.
