Gauging interest: Lost Coast BDR-x in NorCal

Sometime this year I’m going to go ride the Lost Coast BDR-x in Northern California, my previous homeland. I’ve ridden nearly all of the route and area on bicycles and a lot of it on moto on road, but want to experience the designed route while revisiting some of my old haunts.

Is anyone interested in joining me? Sep/Oct is a good candidate, although summers are lovely as well. In terms of logistics, I’ll probably ship a bike to NorCal (probably SF), and ride from there, though there’s a chance I’d drive. Not sure yet. I can likely also arrange for rentals (or at least put you in touch with the right people) if you want to simply fly and ride, and I’d limit this to a 4-6 person crew, possibly with some NorCal vetted locals as part of that total number.

Holler if you’re interested, and we can take it from there.

I’ve been kicking around the idea of riding highway 1 from SF to BC and then back to FO though Canada sometime this summer. Would likely ride the bike out to CA before official trip to stage it in Bay area and then fly back out to begin trip. If timing works out with your plans maybe we can ride a bit of it together. Trying to squeeze in as much riding before October as I will likely have shoulder surgery early Oct. I’ve hiked the Lost Coast Trail and driven that stretch of NorCal. Beautiful part of the country.

Nice! I’ve ridden (bicycle) from WA state line to the city, and that was awesome. I’ll ping you and see about dates.

I’m interested. This area has been on my list for a long time. I was going to pack it on bicycle but I like the idea of exploring the area on a big bike better. I would probably drive out and possibly get someone to shuttle my truck and trailer to the end point. I could haul 2 big bikes out on my current trailer setup. If I cannot arrange a shuttle then I would have figure out a safe place (in SFO perhaps) to park my truck and trailer.

Ok. It would be extremely difficult to find anywhere to put a truck and trailer in the city of San Francisco. You’d be better off going an hour north of the city. If we can pull this together, I have a lot of resources that we can use to figure out logistical stuff like this, though.
