NMBDR (Best of) Memorial Day weekend?

I’ll be bachelor-N it Memorial Day weekend and am down to host some riding or meeting for the NMBDR during that time: https://www.backtrackmaps.com/links/map/203050447139368220

I can ride up to the start or into CO for the official start, or we can meet down here in ABQ. Let me know if you’re interested!

I’m unfamiliar with the NMBDR. What segments would be “the best of” for a ~3 day ride, for example?

I’m a maybe on that one. Following!

Probably 7, 6, 5, then back on I-25 or side roads. Could do 8,7,6, and part of 5, spend the night in ABQ then I-25 back to trucks. Weather should be ok…

Ok. I’ll look at those sections.

I rode through NM when I did the Continental Divide Trail from MX to Canada. We spent 4hrs getting 8 bikes 400m back to pavement after ignoring an “Impassable When Wet” sign…the mud was next level

I’d say I’m about 91.127% in for the ride. I need a multiday camping ride…

Definitely interested. Presume this would be ideal for big or middle weight bikes?

I’ll be on 790 and Steve on 701, planning to camp

The Gila Mtns out in western NM are awesome!! Gorgeous conifer clusters interspersed with grassy meadows. Love it!!

Sections 4 & 5 are awesome, and the expert section at start of section 8 (out of Abiquiu) is a blast! Section 7 has some gorgeous forest riding!

Thank you for the summary. A dirt bike buddy here claims you can do the NMBDR with a Toyota Camry…

I watched the documentary video on this bdr the other day after this post and saw there are some big sections of sand and mud.

I’m definitely interested. I could ride my 1200 but the 500 would be more fun. No issues with camping for me.

Ha! Yeah, kind of true for the main route!!! The exit from Chloride Cyn might be a bit stout in the Camry.
A couple of the expert alternatives would surely test that Camry!!

Will watch the video today. I Don’t sweat sand but NM mud is no joke.

But @Arrivo says the route goes through Pie Town which is all I need to know :+1:
