Dave came over and off we went up Golden Gate, Robinson Hill and Smith Hill to Blackhawk for GREAT breakfast at the Red Dolly for CHEAP and if you have a gambling problem they have a help line too. The waitress was from Split, Croatia she was also lovely.
Up over the hill to Virginia City and down Oh My God Road we fueled up in Idaho Springs and headed for Ute Creek and Saxon Mountain.
Rocks, rocks and more rocks I’m in the rock business so I love rocks.
High above Georgetown I-70 below
Grays and Torrey peaks behind Dave. That is Argentine Pass between Dave and my helmet. Amazingly the over 100 years ago the Argentine Central RR went to the top of 13,000’ McClellan Mountain also behind Dave head.
About 10 years ago landslides and rock falls came down on this section making Saxon more difficult for larger 4WD vehicles which get high centered on the piles of debris.
20 years ago this road (like most CO 4wd roads) was in MUCH better shape.
A few more rocks which Dave handles with style and grace.
It was a laid back day with a nice breakfast and short ride of under 100 miles maybe a total of 45 dirt.
