SCAR Southern Colorado Adventure Riders - A Fellowship with BCADV Perhaps

I’ve been poking in and around the perimeter of Colorado’s dirt riding community on fb. Gypsum has a thriving MX scene that is growing with trail development. Clearly some peeps here have a rich background in MX. The SCAR peeps seem really similar to the BCADV peeps in terms of integrating camping, longer distance rides and exploration. I started thinking that two similar tribes might want to pow-wow (host) rides for each other. I did a search here before posting in case there was something akin to what I’m throwing out in this post …didn’t see anything. Maybe this is something that could happen in ‘26. I joined the SCAR’s fb group to see what’s up …pending approval. I’ll update here if I learn more / find some like-kind synergy.

I’m always down to learn more riding areas.

I’d like to survey our members and find what flavor bikes people have: ADV only, ADV + DS, DS only, other, etc. So we have a better sense of what kinds of rides would interest the members. For example, the Moab trip is best for dualsport or unplated dirt bikes, but we don’t know how many people have a small bike in the garage.

I started a polling ova hea: Polling - You ride DS, ADV or Both - GENERAL CHITCHAT - BCADV

Gypsum is unique in that the city and county purchased land from the BLM for a riding facility, Dry Lake Motocross Park, it is operated under a public/private partnership by the Rocky Mountain Sport Riders club. RMSR has info on their web page about the track and local riding areas in Eagle County. Both Rocky Mtn Vintage Motocross (RMVMC) and CORCS have run races at Dry Lake in the past.

Western slope rocks! Even though Eagle has become very $$$$, the landscape is great for outdoor adventure access. Love that Gypsum is forward thinking in that way.
