I’m Gino. I started this BCADV thing, and I’m stoked you’re here. :call_me_hand:t3:

Things to remember about this crew: Give more than you take. Be cool / don’t be a dick. Remember that we all started somewhere and were newbies. We welcome new riders, and given the breadth and depth of talent and knowledge in this crew, there’s always something to learn regardless of who you are.

I’m looking forward to riding with you!

I’m J.P., I ride a 2022 KTM SAR, I also have a 2011 KTM XC-F 350 I use for trail riding and occasional hare scramble racing (mostly retired from racing). I like to moto camp and ride my big bike like a dirt bike. I’ve attended a few BCADV groups rides, ridden with with Rich quite a few times (also a Jar Head), and looking forward to meeting and riding with everyone.

I’m Matt. I live in Frederick and run the Army ROTC program at CU Boulder. I like to ride my T7 pretty hard and a WR250R when I really want to get some bruises and break some motorcycle parts. Always looking to ride and moto camp when the schedule allows, which I wish was more frequent. Also enjoy amateur radio / rock climbing - two hobbies that ADV riding enables.

I’m Mike, I got back into motorcycles a little over a year ago and got into ADV riding this past summer as I love going off-road in a truck that isn’t the best off road. I’m starting out on an 05 KLR 650….it was a steal and thoroughly enjoying the bike so far. I’m still not the best on the bike but I’m not too worried about getting stuck somewhere again where I shouldn’t be.

I am also mechanically inclined, especially since I worked in the auto repair industry for over a decade before deciding to pursue a childhood dream 10 years ago and now I wear body armor, a badge, and a gun belt. Being on 2 wheels has become an overnight passion of mine because of the mental health benefits I’ve personally experienced, not to mention coworkers and those who served in the military have told me as well. I honestly don’t know why I didn’t get into it sooner.

I’m always learning and willing to learn more about taking a big bike off-road (only have 1…. currently). I’ve done 1 group ride so far, and did a ride with Dave Dejong. I also am not afraid to push myself. I recently went on a solo S24O trip off Schubarth trail that splits off of RR a couple of weeks ago and learned a lot (couple spills, couple near spills….all in good fun).

I’m looking forward to having a Tuesday off (one day) to come to the monthly meet and greet, but until then I’ll try to get out to the group rides as much as possible.

If any of you need help turning wrenches, I’m always down to lend a hand or help you work through it. And if someone needs some camping gear loaned (for motorcycle or family), the family and I have a plethora of stuff.

I’m in Northglenn near 104th/Colorado.

Oh, and I really enjoy photography….it’s sometimes a hindrance because I want 1 more photo of the same thing.

I’m Saul. I’ve been riding since before there were trees. In the 90’s I worked as a motorcycle messenger in San Francisco. I spent many years as a street squid, I still have some squid tendencies. I went roadracing for a few years as well. When I moved to Colorado a little over 20 years ago I got into ADV and off road riding. I ride a KTM 1090 and a KTM 530. I’m allergic to group rides, especially large groups with riders I don’t know.

Hey Saul, good to see you healthy and riding again :call_me_hand:

Thanks Rich. Been a hell of a year but I’m all good now and have been back on the bike a good bit.

Hi everyone – I’m Rich Strauss. You can blame @mulebarn for dragging me into helping admin this group last year.

I started street riding in Georgia in the mid-80s through the mid-90s. The highlight of that era was a six-week, 12,000-mile solo tour of the American West on a CBR1000F—camping and shooting pool in small-town bars to earn money for food and gas.

In 1995 I enlisted in the Marines and served as an artillery officer at Camp Pendleton, ending as a Battery XO.

In 2006, while honeymooning in Utah on my Goldwing, I saw all these dirt roads I couldn’t ride. About four hours after getting home, I bought a DRZ400—and never looked back. Since then, I’ve been 100% dual sport and ADV, with zero interest in pavement. From 2006 to 2019, I explored California, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah. I’ve led too many group rides to count, helped lay out the LAB2V route for a few years, and put together countless multi-day rides in Baja on both big and small bikes. Sand is my default terrain. One of the biggest highlights was riding the Continental Divide Trail in July 2017—3,000 miles of epic dirt from Mexico to Canada.

My wife Kandi rides too, and I somehow lucked out with someone who loves camping off the bikes as much as I do. When we’re not doing that, we use our Transit as a mobile basecamp. We moved from L.A. to Boulder in 2019, then to Longmont in 2021, and we’ve really enjoyed exploring Colorado and Wyoming since.

After my time in the Corps, and after brief tour in the real world, I had a 17-year career as a professional triathlon coach. I started two coaching companies, founded the Pasadena Triathlon Club, and co-founded Endurance Nation—a national-level coached team. I raced 14 Ironmans, coached over 10,000 Ironman finishers, and led countless camps, clinics, classes, and group rides. I sold my stake in Endurance Nation in 2017 and transitioned into a land investment business.

The consistent themes in my life have been fitness, motorcycling, coaching, teaching, and building communities. Whether it was teaching 18-year-old Marines how to adjust live artillery, coaching athletes to race with power meters, or leading cyclists 100 miles a day across California, I’ve spent a lifetime helping people get better and bringing them together around shared passions.

I’m now channeling that into 2WheelsGood.us (website coming soon), where I’ll offer ADV coaching, skills training, and guided tours. Our first trip is later this month—15 BCADV members and I are taking on the COBDR together.

This transition has been a long time coming, and the coached ride I led recently for the club reminded me just how much of my skill set transfers to this space. I’m excited to contribute to this community, support fellow ADV riders, and help us build something truly special together.

Sorry, this is the most recent photo I have, from 1887.

I’d love to be the first client @Rich_Strauss for your ADV skills classes. Haven’t taken one and I know I need one.

I’m Sean. I’ve been riding motorbikes since before Reagan was elected. I started out as a dirtbike kid, raced motocross in my teens, but have been basically a touring rider since I got my license (I celebrated my seventeenth birthday with a three-week solo ride around the western US). I’ve been through my squid phase, spent some time on the track, done some two-up touring, and now I’m very slowly feeling out off road riding beyond some of the easier passes. I picked up a beat to hell CRF the summer before last which, it turns out, is much more forgiving of dumb mistakes than my big bikes have been (rode an R100GS for about 20 years, still ride a Super Tenere as my main touring/two-up bike). I’m not much of a fan of rides with more than a few people, but I plan to make a group ride occasionally, and definitely look forward to some off-season and social gatherings.

Hey all! I’m John. I’ve done a handful of the weekly rides, and a couple group ones

New to ADV, not to offroading with various counts of tires.

Native to area, and extremely happy this group is here.

I share hair stylists with Rich, and body type with Gino, except with longer limbs.

I’m a casual AF rider, so I’m always happy to do some weekly runs or B/C groups when I’m allowed out.

‘RC’ John, because I’ve been doing hobby-radio controlled stuff for 132 years. Also RV camp, do Jeep stuff, and carve canyons in a MX5.

Howdy, Steve Green here also known as Esteban since I am from NJ, Mexico City and CO. Been riding around these parts for 50+ years but I go to lots of other places too. Love playing in the dirt since I was 11 and I am now holy shit 70!!! Still riding. My first real bike was a Carabela 66 cc which I rode all over the mountains of Mexico City between 10,000 and 15,000 feet. I like long varied rides further from Denver the better. Sometimes I like to sail my motorcycle too. Photo is in Patagonia back in 1978 when you run out of gas in diesel country. One of my cooler and longer rides (50,000 miles RT). I’m always interested in finding fellow riding buddies. Some people complain about my longer rides, others lovem. Don’t worry though these days a longer DS ride for me is 400 miles. Esteban - Golden, CO (2003 KLR 650, 2006 KTM 450 EXC, 1988 R100GS, 2012 Super Tenere 1200, 69 Norton Commando Fastback)

I’m Scott. I don’t live in Boulder County but have enjoyed the couple rides this year with the group. I’ve been riding dirt for 8 years or so, motorcycles for 18 years or so. Nowadays I’m riding by Beta 300 in the single track stuff or my Husky 701 in everything else (and some places I shouldn’t be riding it).

Hi All, I’m Joe.

I live in Longmont, and have been riding since 1987 (age 12). Against my mother’s wishes, I saved my Christmas cash, paper route and birthday money, to buy my first used YZ 80 for $214.72, my entire life’s savings at the time. The guy I bought it from even threw in a gold fleck helmet. I rode that bike until it died, but learned how to tune a carb and rebuild a top end.

I moved to pavement in my late teens, and then sold all my bikes when my first child was born, and took a 20 year hiatus from riding.

When I turned 40, I bought a 2012 V-Strom 1000 and a friend said “I bet you could take that up Old Flowers.” 600 pounds, hard bags, mag wheels, and determination, turns out he was right, I could take it over Old Flowers! I swapped that bike for a 2018 V-strom 1000 XT, with spoked wheels, and took that across the COBDR with enough gear to survive for a month…imagine wrestling a pig for 600 miles. I’ve learned a lot aboutADV riding in the past 10 years, and now properly equipped with the right gear and the right machines. My big bike is a 790 ADV R, and the little guy is a WR450.

Rich introduced me to BCADV a couple years ago. I’ve done a few of the organized afternoon rides up 68J and west mag. I love western slope riding, and everything in the San Juans, looking forward to connecting with more members of the group and riding some great terrain together!

Hey all, I’m Dave DeJong. I’ve been riding since the mid 90s as a teen. I’ve been mostly street as an adult with a few year hiatus when we moved to CO from Philly. I picked up a KLR in 2023 and traded up to a GSA 850 this March and have been riding dirt as much as possible. Motorcycles and music have been constants in my life and I took up skateboarding a few back. I’m coming up on 10 years away from booze which

has let me do these things that I love. My wife and two dogs and I try to get outside as much as possible any way we can for recreation. Looking forward to riding more with you guys

Hi all - thank you for organizing and running this! My name is Thomas (super easy with “Tom” or “Tommy” or “Panda”). I ride a FE 350S, recently moved back to the F’range after several years on the Western Slope. Looking forward to exploring Boulder County (and beyond). I’m inept at all things social media (I’m aging man!) Thanks again and see you soon!

Hey y’all. I’m Noah and I live in east Denver and ride a Beta 500 RR and a Triumph Tiger 800.
I talked my dad into getting me an XR 80 when I was a kid and then fell in love with the sensation of exploring on 2 wheels. 52 years old now and still chasing that feeling. Spent the last 25 years moving every 2-3 years (hence ‘nomad’…) but settled in to CO now.
I do a lot of solo riding but always think to myself “this is sketchy AF….!” so I’m getting better at finding riding buddies.
Love bikes but if anyone wants to talk guitars or old cars, I’m your man.
Thanks for putting this together Gino!

Hello all, Im Matt,
Im a bit of a transient, but I have been back in Colorado since 2022. Im a native Oregonian, and have bounced around WA, CO, LA, NoVA, and NorCal over the years.

I joined the moto world embarrassingly late, and started riding in 2020 as a COVID hobby, and it quickly spiraled into an obsession. I try to carve out 1-2 weeks a year for moto adventures, which normally include at least one BDR. Last year, I got f’ed by the fickle finger of fate and broke my collarbone being stupid on a demo bike at the Touratech Rally up in WA, which put me on the riding sidelines for the rest of the year. I’ve done the AZ, UT, WA, and OR BDRs and am hoping to join the best of the COBDR ride later this summer.

I have a sweetspot for full-fat ADV bikes, but my main dirt machine is a KTM 690. This February, I caught a nasty case of cabin fever and flew to CA, bought the cheapest Ducati Multistrada Enduro for sale in the country, and I have already put 4k miles on it since.

I’m usually a solo rider and all about long days in the saddle. That said, I am looking forward to connecting and riding with everyone here.

Cheers!
