Howdy everyone! Great to be part of such an awesome group. Been riding a long time. Used to race RMEC series enduros which are a blast. Took a 10 year hiatus and my daughter wanted to get into riding so here I am. Sadly she likes motocross, I wanted her to like cross country, still working on that. I split time between Boulder and Fort Lauderdale and she goes to the University of Miami where there is a moto track 30 min from her and we get out there and I try not to kill myself. Going to start to do Hare scrambles and Enduros in the South East. Not as a race but as a ride. Definitely not as fast as I used to be, but too much fun not to try. Somehow in my hiatus the BDR world appeared. Super excited to do a few this summer and explore the west. I used to do a lot of riding in the Sun Valley Idaho area and hope to do the Idaho, Wyoming and Montana BDRs this summer. In the stable I have a Kove 800x Rally, a Husqvarna 501 (which is being finished at Taco Moto) and a Husqvarna 300 TE. Looking forward to explore new areas and have new experiences. BTW I always thought the old combat zone up Left hand was much more rocky than the Switzerland trail.

Welcome! I will likely lead of Best of the WYBDR ride in late July and there’s some talk of a few of us doing the MTBDR in early Sept. We’ll know more when they official launch the route

Welcome to the crew. Looking forward to seeing you on some rides when you’re here.

Welcome, again. :slightly_smiling_face: I have a Taco-501 and ma I love that bike. Look forward to riding with you, but not at anything resembling a race pace. :soft_ice_cream::soft_ice_cream:

Another taco 501! Welcome dude!

I have a long history with the Honda Hawk, including racing one for a few years. Love those little bikes. Did one AHRMA race on it back in the day and it was great fun.

The Hawk was always my dream bike back in the days in SF! Never did tie one down.

I used one as a messenger bike in SF. I put about 80k on that bike, then I took it racing!

Hey everyone, I’m Nick. Recently found the group by going to Adv 101 series @ RevZilla. Can’t wait for the other sessions, seems like an awesome community!

New to the scene, started riding ~July and already addicted. Grew up riding dirt bikes in Minnesota and lots of cycling / eBikes…then found Adv videos on YouTube and knew I’d love to explore on a motorcycle.

Currently ride a Kawasaki KLX300 as I’m still learning the ropes of on and off road riding. Don’t want to get myself into too much trouble with a large bike…yet…

I’d say I’m more of a C (maybe B) rider. I haven’t hit Switzerland Trail but plan to this summer for a frame of reference. Since I live in Lakewood I usually ride around Evergreen, Idaho Springs, Nederland area. Software engineer during the day so I get out on the weekends or if the suns still up after work.

Below is a video of (by far) the hardest terrain I’ve ridden (Cascade Creek on OnX). Had to turn around twice, laid the bike down twice, but good to learn my limits. I’ll ride the entire loop one day.

Looking forward to learning more about the sport, going on rides, meeting new people, and leveling up enough to rip a BDR! :call_me_hand:

Welcome, Nick! Software/UX guy here as well - or was for 25 years. I rode a KLX300 on sections of the NEBDR and all around Vermont last fall. It’s a great bike!

Dreams can come true. I have a Hawk for you Gino.

Haha, I think a Hawk makes less sense for what I do now compared to when I was squidding around SF on vintage Vespas and later a 650GS. :slightly_smiling_face:

Do you have a truck, trailer, or hitch rack?

Yep! Just recently picked up a vehicle with a hitch (and hitch rack)…unlocking so much more potential fun

Long distances on i70 (or alike) riding the KLX is hell

Yep. To be honest, that’s about the only weakness of bikes like that, admin of getting to/from the trail. You’ll be the guy on the small bike that we send up the hill, riding point for the big bikes
