Whatās up fellas! Names Derek, moving to Boulder in a month. Wanted to get a jump on joining a group to find people to ride with. From Virginia, currently got a tenere 700 and a 300xc. Love doing harescrambles (signing up for some corcs races in 2026) and taking adv bikes in places they probably shouldnāt be. Super stoked to come ride with yall, planning on making it out to as many rides as I can. Cant wait to get some seat time in with yall!
Thanks for letting me in. Rich told me about the group and it sounds fun.
My first bike was a 1977 Yamaha DT175 at age 15 and Iām a retired CPA so Iām pretty old. Most of my riding experience has been street. I road raced on and off for a bit with the MRA (āonā racing pretty well until I exceeded the limits of traction, and then āoffā paying for and repairing crashed bikes). Donāt worry, Iāve become much more circumspect with age.
Iāve done a couple ADV classes and enjoyed them, but Iām still pretty inexperienced off-road. Currently, Iām riding a Ducati Desert X. It is an amazing bike and I donāt come close to pushing its limits.
In addition to motorcycles, I like riding gravel and mountain bikes and have recently fallen in love with fly fishing for trout. I donāt catch a lot, but I love being out in the woods. I did a little fishing / motorcycle camp trip last summer and want to do more.
Iām looking to meeting the group and having some fun.
Hey Tom,
Great chatting with you on the drive and welcome aboard!
Welcome, Tom! There are a lot of us here who ride MTB and gravel as well. Boulder gonna Boulder. ![]()
Look forward to meet you in person soon. Our ADV classes start in January, and we often have impromptu hangs around town. With recent weather, thereās been some decent lowland riding as well.
Hey, Iām Amber. Iām new to Colorado and landed in Boulder in September, after 7 years out of the country. Right now, my only bike in the US is a Triumph Street Twin, but Iām looking to get a 690 Enduro R in a few months or so. Iāve been riding street bikes for about 9-10 years and just got into ADV riding a year ago - when I flew to Colombia, took an off-road course for two days, and then set out on an 8 month trip around South America. I still have my little Honda XRE300 down there, and then I have a CBR500R in Thailand.
Before South America, Iād only ridden off-road once (once intentionally anyhow) in Thailand. My other experiences were accidentally ending up on intense terrain on a sport bike while trying to find a viewpoint or trail, and it was miserable. But Iām an explorer at heart, and I completely fell in love with ADV riding in South America. My ADV skills arenāt so bad at this point, but as a friend recently said to me in Moab, āYour problem is mental.ā Iām still working on that one.
After spending nearly all day every day exploring on my bike for 8 months, I couldnāt imagine not being around bikes every day and got pretty lucky with landing here. I ended up in Boulder because I got a job fixing bikes at a local repair shop, and I absolutely love it. Iām so excited to be living here, canāt wait to explore Colorado, and hope to find some friends to adventure with.
Got me looking through all my photos and struggling to narrow it down, but hereās Boliviaās death road, the infamous BR319 in Brazil that took me out, an anaconda in Guiana, and the mountains of Peru.
Awesome pics! Welcome Amber and best of luck on finding your next bike!
Welcome! See the ADV 101 Series weāre offering over the next 3mo ![]()
Welcome!
WOW The pics of the mountains are epic! Iād dare say most of our problems are mental, bikes are much more capable than our brains want to admit! Welcome to the group.
Welcome!
Welcome to Boulder and club! Great pics and your adventures look awesome
Welcome, Amber!
Thanks (everyone) for the warm welcome! Iām hoping to make it to the ADV 101 series, depending on work, and look forward to meeting you all!
Beautiful pictures. And that snake!!
Hey I am Leya! Nice to meet you all and join your community! I enjoy riding. My favorite is to ride cross country, visiting national parks and seeing all the beauty⦠I am still very new to dirt biking but have enjoyed riding a few sections of the Colorado BDR and would like to keep getting more comfortable⦠double track and single track still make me anxious ![]()

Welcome aboard!
Welcome, Leya. I think you might be the second Africa Twin rider in the crew, with @Paulo being the other. Lotta Husky fans in here as well (I ride a 501 and 701). Hope to see you on some rides this year.
Welcome, Leya! Until itās riding time again, you should come to one of the BCADV ADV 101 classes.
Super cool!! Welcome Leya!!
Hey all ā Iāve been lurking here for a few months, but excited to start connecting with more like-minded riders. Iāve been getting into off-road riding over the past several years, have done a few BDRs, and ride locally around Colorado. My goal for 2026 is to get out more often and continue improving my skills.
Right now my only bike is a T7, which I picked up after trading in my street bike (a Triumph Thruxton) ā no regrets. Iām into moto camping, getting into remote places, and pushing my limits a bit. I also enjoy wrenching on my bike and try to handle all the maintenance myself (even the damn T7 spark plugsā¦).
