What have you done to your bike this week?

I’ll go first. In an effort to cool down my Husky 701, and address some of the fueling flameout issues on steep/loose terrain I ordered a Dynojet Power Commander and a Wings exhaust w/dB insert. These will be paired with the Rade Garage air intake that comes as part of their under seat storage compartment kit. I’ll report back once installed, and if anyone knows of a Dynojet dyno in the area, I’d be curious to take it to see what the numbers look like.

Broke it….

Didn’t realize you had to have the engine at TDC when you take out the tensioner (or rather I didn’t think about it, I was in there to check on the doohickey and now Im at valves)

If the head is messed up I may need a new recommendation for a machine shop that can repair the valve seats. Fun times

Nothing exciting, simple oil and filter change on the 1290 SAR. This was in preparation for my upcoming continuation trip of the TAT. Previously I broke down due to a failed stator and cylinder position sensor, while also using up coolant. Replaced stator, CPS, and then water pump seal 3k miles ago, oil looked good and still no coolant loss. Ready for the TAT!

Oh, and then noticed the next morning one of my fork seals was leaking, probably from the deep puddles and mud I rode through at the Get On ADV fest in SD a few weekends ago, so I pulled the dust seal and scraped and cleaned the inner seal. I think that’s about it.

At some point between installing floors and dealing with contractors I need to replace the fork seals on the KLR and rebuild carbs and such on my 83 Yamaha bagger.

Oh and my little Honda 250 scooter needs and oil change…and my truck needs the tires rotated. I need an 8 day week.

@Am.Mike.Teur.ADV where are you located? I can help with the fork seals. We probably need a beer each and 2 hours total

104th and Colorado area, I haven’t done fork seals yet so I’ve been a student of the YouTubes ….but I have beer a plenty!

You are down the street from me at 36 and 92nd so I can either come over or you can come here. Should be free next week after work or weekend potentially. Shoot me a text 6302018361

As I sit in my garage waiting for the Amazon man to bring me some brake pads….Replaced my radiator which sprung a leak that may or may not have been caused by a kamikaze bird in Wyoming. Cleaned my air filter while I had the tank off. Put some new Tusk 2Track tires on (I’m a big fan of these tires). Pressed some dents out of my front rim. Bled my brakes. Lots of cleaning. When I have the bike apart I like to clean all the stuff I can’t normally get to.

@mulebarn I’m running the same as you on my 23 701. I didn’t take temps but it considerably cooled it down. However I added the autotune to allow the bike to adjust A/F ratios based on elevation as we see a wide variety of elevation in CO. I paired that with a Tekmo header pipe (I didn’t want to weld on the wide-band O2 bung to the stock pipe). I’ve also dropped a tooth on the countershaft sprocket to a 14-tooth. It can about chug through the brakes now.

I’ve got two maps on my PC. An “Eco” tune and a “Power” tune which is nothing but fueling differences. On Eco, I get about 130 miles to a (factory) tank as it does run richer than the factory tune. If you get the Autotune, you need to get the O2 dongle as well to bypass the factory O2 or the two will fight against each other.

If you get Autotune (specifically from Rottweiler), take the 13.2 A/F ratios down to the bottom RPM in the chart (free download for the Dynojet software). I had issues with my header glowing at idle with their base tune as they stop chasing below 5% throttle or 5,000RPM.

The Rade intake filter has a ton less filter surface than the factory paper filter or even some other intakes on the market. The filter cover sucks and the elastic around the bottom of it will work under the filter seat, leaving a path for dirt. Due to the smaller area, they get dirty fast, especially when riding in a group. Get a Funnel Web filter for the from here Funnel Web. They are Funnel Web but for some reason can’t license them as such in the US. I’ll carry 1-2 extra filters in the storage compartment.

Thanks to the generosity of @309 and his ‘Free Moto Stuff’ post back on the old FB group, I got a (FREE!) Garmin GPS for my little bike.
Found a cheap tower/holder thingy with little windshield on ebay and now I’ve got another Adventure bike!

After the stall issues on the last ride @ altitude, I went down a couple jet sizes in the Carb. After battling a loose/falling out idle mixture screw on the way (Loctite to the rescue), I took the bushpig up to ~12,000ft and it ran great and got ~56 mpg. Not too shabby. Fingers crossed there are no issues on tomorrow’s Elite ride! :crossed_fingers:

Nice! Yeah…your MPG was NOT right on the camping ride.

Still got the risers and bars? I’m sure someone in the club has a pair(s) of bars laying around. At a minimum you could loose the risers.

Yep, risers are gone. Feels much better while standing.

Wings exhaust with a Power Commander is on the 701 now. I’ll go for a little rip this evening to see how she feels. Hopefully cooler and smoother down low.

Next, I’ll likely add a slightly larger rear sprocket. The 701 will do about 22mph in 1st gear in steep downhill stuff, which is less than ideal… and luggy low end stuff could be improved.

Fixing some 1st world problems on my 701. Got a bracket from ADV Crew out of Australia to double up ABS sensors on the front wheel. This takes the rear ABS sensor and puts it on the front wheel so the system doesn’t see slip. Therefore 701 can switch these off but when you turn the key off, it resets then you have to go over like 8mph and turn them off again.

There are ABS dongles all over the market but nothing that fixes the traction control issue. This does both without throwing any errors like putting a washer under the ABS sensor bolt does. I’m waiting on some switches to be able to switch between this way and normal.

I don’t know if it was in my head but I also think this works better than the factory switch as I think the front ABS was always active to a certain degree as it felt like I had brake fade on other rides. Yesterday the front brake felt great all day.

Installed a full race exhaust on my Multistrada. Dropped about 12lbs, fixes the 5k deadzone, and generally makes it sound ridiculous.

While at Dusty Lizard, the Taco Moto crew installed their double snorkel double draw system on my 501. Now, the bike will suck every last drop of gas, and not leave that trademark KTM 1L of fuel while behaving like it’s empty.

You don’t like doing the bike wobble of shame when you run out of gas??

Only when I accompany it with a cute little dance.
