No passages, just the cut away section you can see for the outer journals, which are both scored. Oil was changed every 2000 miles. Oil filters and screens were always clean except on the second oil change (shop did the first 600 mile service) there was a very, very small amount of debris on the screens.
I had the tusk 2 track tires out at IMI last week and was pretty impressed with them. Mounting was a MFer but got er done. Hope you enjoy it.
The scoring is very light on the cylinder head. Gonna polish the intake cam, replace the exhaust cam, slap the cams back in and run it!
There is an oil feed for the journals in the tower. This vid discusses the oiling system. There is a screen filter in the feed to the upper cam tower in the head. The feed hole with the filter in it is near the cam tunnel on the intake side of the head. Sounds like it is a good idea to check that filter screen in the head too.
Send it, bruh!
Checked my valves, removed some DOT shit, and added better radiator guards on my 350 today. Gotta run to Sun tomorrow for a new spark plug (RIP elite) and throw on the bigger tank. Should be ready for Moab after that!
Checked it. Clean as a whistle.
Rear brake pads after 21k miles on big bike. ![]()
Got the boingers off my new 300 to send off for springs and tuning. Had to get creative so it doesn’t fall over.
How did that seat cover work out the other day on our ride? I had a friend that had the sheep skin cover but ultimately changed over to a Wind Rider vented cover and felt it worked even better. Just curious.
Fantastic. Best $20 I spent on comfort for the bike. I had to install some grommets and get creative with the attachment points but it worked out well. Going to leave it one.
if anyone wants to go a similar route, I can help out.
Just gotta say, there’s something to be said for form over function…just need horns on your helmet and you’ll be all set
lol it’s got form and function. There’s no other mod that gives your bike more drip (as the kids say) than a sheepskin carpet.
I had custom tank stickers made vs the OEM “Ready to Repair” livery.
Rainy day project, new plastics, graphics, and chain for the 500 also. Just need to do a couple things before it’s photo-shoot ready.
We need a “Show Us Your Bike(s)” Thread
Working on valve adjustments and put in the proshift kit on my 890. Anyone else with a 790/890 wanna get the 3.5 bar oil springs. Only place I can find them available is aftermarket from Austrailia. We can split shipping. They are $18 each and $18 shipping but would be cheaper with splitting it a few ways. Hit me up.
Installed the Boost airbox and took care of a few other things while the T7 was all stripped down. Cleaned up some electrical, installed a smaller lithium battery, replaced a well-ravaged set of front fairings, found a rock jammed in between my radiator and radiator brace. The usual.
Most satisfying was the custom Kydex tray to relocate the ecu under the seat. I had to replace it last year after the side mounted ecu was crushed through the plastic in a crash. There are a few options for ecu relocate kits but they seemed pricey, and I feel comfortable with farm-grade fabrication (which means it will definitely work but it’s not beautiful.) Now the brain is safely tucked between the frame rails. Apparently they updated this on the 2025.
