We’re stoked to announce we have a new BCADV partner/sponsor: Elite Powersports in Longmont. They’ve been in business for more than 20 years, and this past spring moved their business to Boulder County. After talking with owner Steve Tuchschmidt a few times about BCADV, we saw it could be a great symbiotic partnership to support the club, and have us support an awesome small business, and the only one aimed at the ADV/off road community.
As a start point, the team at Elite is offering the following for BCADV club members:
A monthly ride starting point with coffee and donuts! (First one is August 9)
15% off parts, garments, and accessories
Service special for tire swaps for tires you buy from Elite:
a. Wheels off your bike: $45 single tire change or $90 double (Originally $65 per single)
b. Wheels on your bike: $95 single tire change or $180 double (Originally $129 per single)
With that, on August 9th Elite will be opening their doors for us at 08:45 so we can meet the team and check out the shop, and hopefully have a donut. KSU no later than 9:30.
Rich will be posting GPX tracks soon, and there will be an A route and a B route. The basic idea:
Street ride to Masonville, then left on Buckhorn. At “dirty Buckhorn,” the ride will split:
A-Route: will carry on to Old Flowers Rd then blah blah to Poudre Canyon
B-Route: Dirty Buckhorn over Pingree Pass to Poudre Canyon
A+B Regroup, if the timing works out, in Rustic.
From there the rides will split up again, with both generally doing a large loop around the Redfeathers area.
Can’t make it but love that B-route. Right in my backyard and I ride it often. Extremely minor map error for those riding the B-route NWbound at the Buckhorn turn. It might have already been corrected from last year but if not, here it is:
After the riders brief we’ll all roll out of Elite together and make our way as a group (both A and B riders) to Masonville, via Carter Lake. No drop, we’ll keep everyone on board, etc. Stop at Masonville to split the squad into A and B.
A-Route Overview:
The A-route is “A” because of Old Flowers and then the length of the loop we’ll be riding north of Redfeather. Old Flowers is legit these days on a big bike. If you’re not sure, you can do the B-route below, connect with us in Rustic, and join us for the big loop north of Redfeather. After Old Flowers there’s nothing particularly challenging about the riding itself, just that it will be a full day.
The A-Route will stop for a trail sammich at the fire tower at Deadman.
B-Route:
This is a great scenic ride: Dirty Buckhorn, Pingree Pass, Poudre Canyon, Rustic, and then up to Redfeather. After that the route swings south again via a different route back to Rustic, then Poudre, Stove Prairie, Rist, and then around Horsetooth Rez.
Admin: bring water, tools, snacks, lunch, and start with a full tank of gas. There’s a Circle K about 100yds from Elite. There is gas in Rusic for $$$$. Gas also available in Redfeather.
Finally, please use the poll that @mulebarn added to the first post in this thread to RSVP, so we have some idea of what to expect.
I have an injured wifey (MTB crash), so taking it day by day right now. I’ll be there at the start, and may ride with y’all for a while. See you Saturday.
Bumping this for the Thurs crowd. Between ~13 RSVP’d on FB, and “50% of 18 Voters” in the forum, I can’t math the math on how many to expect. If you can’t make the ride, come for the donut(s). Everyone needs more donuts in their life.
I’m going to try and make it. Missing my 3rd tire lever for a new rear swap that has to happen before Saturday’s ride. Hoping to have the new levers and weights by tomorrow sometime. I don’t have room for a rabaconda or this would already be done. Excited to try out the Motoz Outback Tractionator Race. Looks good. I’m a “maybe” at this point.
I’m bringing my buddy Chade Nelson too. I hope that’s alright - he’s a ripper and a solid human. I told him about the branding ceremony we all go through as well.
