BCADV Spring Moab Weekend: March 19-22, 2026

In my experience, if you stay out of town and off of the named trails that the 4 x 4 and side-by-side crowds like to hit, it’s not a problem

Anyone else checked the weather? It’s looking pretty hot.

Due to the forecast, I’m out sadly. My heat intolerance makes it a no go.

I will bring two compressors. A small battery charger and air compressor for the trail-use and a large 12V plug-in for camp use.

Bummer Gino. Sorry to hear this.

Same boat with health issues that cause heat intolerance. I keep hoping the forecast will change but I may have to sit this one out too. :slightly_frowning_face:

Let’s ride here if you stick around.

Definitely up for that! Trying to convince @Kurdz2408 that the forecast is looking nice in BV so we could still camp… I’m not sure what trail conditions are like right now though. Waiting on intel from my neighbor that just took his jeep out there yesterday.

These things are great when you’re out in the heat. You fill them up with water, put it in the freezer, and then wear one on the back and one on the front to keep you cool.

Doesn’t do much when you don’t have access to a freezer tho.

I’d like to suggest something that has worked very well in previous Moab trips, camping in the same area. 1) a morning ride 2-3 hours, 2) lunch at camp, 3) afternoon ride. Given the forecast, the morning ride would be better long, IMO. Trouble with that is people won’t want to ride later afternoon

This was the rhythm of our days on the recent Mexico trip, except for a couple of slog days.

We have long rides planned for Fri and Sat, so early starts to get ahead of the heat, early dinner / late lunch in town to grab some AC

Sunday A Ride:

@309 gave me intel last week that Dead Cow and The Tubes are closed. Not barricaded but possibly game cameras. Unfortunately my custom “Blame Gino” jersey won’t be here till next week so we won’t risk it.

:grimacing:

Instead we’re going to ride some fun stuff to the White Sand Dunes and play around in there. Then we’ll amble over to Mary’s and Brian’s Trails. These are follow the white dots slick rock trails.

I don’t have the day formally mapped out. Instead, I have 3 tracks that we’ll work from, freelancing a bit. When I get home I’ll add these tracks to the first post in this thread so we’re all looking at the same thing on Sunday.

These slick rock trails are a blast but they can be on the intimidating side if you’ve never ridden terrain like this: steep climbs and descents, off camber side hill, stuff, but ludicrous traction.

Doing this on the backend so if anyone wants to bail they can navigate themselves back to camp.

I haven’t ridden sovereign trails in many years but my memory is that they are a ton of fun. Would love to fit that in somewhere.

Curious if anyone has a suggestion for somewhere to fill my camper water between the divide and Moab? I can haul water from home but since I’m pretty loaded down I would prefer not to. I know the Maverick in town has free water but don’t want to drive into town if I don’t have to.

Fruita has a public dump and a fill station for free

Does anyone need panniers (soft luggage) or 1 L gas bottles for the trip. I have extra of each.

Getting excited :slightly_smiling_face:
