I will head out Wednesday from Erie and shoot for a 7:00 PM arrival in Moab. I will have my Truck camper and the 500 on a trailer. I have room for another passenger and another bike if anyone is interested. -Mark - 303.349.8579
I managed to secure a ride for my 530. Moab is one place I really like having a proper dirt bike. Really looking forward to this!
Utah has a requirement for OHV riders to get certified - course link below.
Everyone plz bring / buy on the way a bundle or two of wood
Dave, the regs are at this link.
Just to clarify, the education cert is not an OHV permit. Separate requirement and itâs a one time classâŚtakes like 20 minutes.
Just saw that Moto Jason posted those links back in Feb.
I did it a few years ago, dunno if I can find the cert
And none of it is required for plated vehicles. Full stop.
I have just been told directly by the amiable Megan at the Depât of Off-Highway Recreation that thereâs an important nuance to be mindful of.
It is true: you do not need an OHV sticker if your out of state vee-hickle is plated in your home state.
However your plated out of state vehicle must meet all of UTAHâS requirements for plated vehicles, not, say, Coloradoâs.
If it doesnât meet Utah reqâs, you need the Utah OHV sticker (or proof of purchase). The list of plated vehicle requirements is on the website. I havent checked to see if there are differences between CO and UT, since I already have the OHV sticker. This is a heads up for yâall that donât.
Also: the test is required regardless of your plated or stickered status. It is an entirely separate requirement fom the sticker.
Megan also told me that UT considers test compliance important precisely for large groups like ours, to minimize the chance of groupthink-influenced moronity.
Just searched Gmail and found my course completion certification
According to GPT:
Equipment items generally required for a street-legal motorcycle in Utah but not strictly required in Colorado:
⢠Turn signals (front and rear)
⢠Speedometer (illuminated)
⢠High/low beam headlight (Utah explicitly requires both beams)
Never trust Chad Gipiti
This is why I purchase the UTAH OHV sticker for my Colorado âplatedâ dirt bike, as I know it probably doesnât meet all the UTAH âstreet legalâ requirements and its a small price to pay not to worry about it.
Yup, not a bad idea. The laws there are for OHV and street legal OHV. If your motorcycle came from the factory street-legal, itâs not an OHV and is exempt as it is a 50-state legal motorcycle.
I can bring a tire changing apparatus for camp work if needed and a hydraulic stand. Can someone bring a small compressor?
I always bring Rabaconda and floor pump
Walking around Moab right now. Itâs busy, but not nearly as crowded as I thought it might be fingers crossed it stays this way.
