Elite in Longmont is shutting down

Wow. Boco is really moto starved now

Damn, what a bummer. How do we get Rocky Mountain ATV/MC to open a branch here? :slightly_smiling_face:

Pretty much anything I order from them arrives next day so almost local. But bummed because Elite is only a couple miles from me.

Also sucks to see any small local business close

Jason and I stopped by after the ride today and they were not open :-1: Lots of inventory still on the floor though…

Bummer for sure.

I spoke with Steve on the morning of the ride that we started from Elite back in…July? August? He suggested even then that closing was a strong option. It seemed like effort involved in piecing together a floor and service program from alt manufacturers and ebikes, or ramping up a relationship with another major brand was just not something he was interested in taking on. It’s too bad for us, but he seemed pretty stoked at the idea of going to play for a while.

I hope it gets purchased and continues as a shop/dealer. I was surprised when Elite bought it from Rocky Mountain Kawasaki, but the continuity was good from my view. It’s been a tough time in the industry for the past couple years. The enthusiast market is strong but that segment is shrinking and very particular.

Though I don’t pay attention to the retailer / new vehicle side of the industry, SxS, etc seem to be doing well?

It was super convenient for me to have a shop so close for oils, fluids, one-off stuff, etc, he said, having ordered coolant and some other stuff from RMATV to delivery on Monday or Tuesday. Would have been more convenient to have picked it up at Elite yesterday.

That said, I dropped into Ace Motorcycles at I-25 and Hwy 52. They’ve taken over the space where the Harley dealership was. Good inventory of used bikes, the service area was big, well-organized, clean, etc. I asked what brands they serviced and they said “pretty much everything,” but when I asked about KTM twins and what service explicitly, I couldn’t get a for sure answer. I was speaking to a sales person on the floor who walked me back to the service counter, but it felt like I’d need to get a no-shit answer from the service manager.

I didn’t see what they had with regards to apparel, consumables, etc, but the shop is only about 20 minutes from and I drive by it all the time.

Me, Me, Me…

It looks like the guys at Adventure Motorcycle Works are picking up the mechanics from House of Motorrad. Combine that with the move to Golden and they could be a good shop. It would be closer for me than going to I-25 and 52 and they seem to focus on Adv bikes. From their new address it looks like their in the business park with Holliday Brewery near Tourig(Camper Van place).

We’ve discussed floating the idea to CMA re hosting a ride from their location, to check out the digs, etc. Starting from Golden would be good, just straight up the Canyon.

Elite has almost always had what I go in there to look for. Even though Aces just opened up down the street from me, wasn’t super impressed with what they had on hand- minus some two stroke oil. Hopefully Aces gets a bit better and somehow someway Elite finds a way to stay open like tricity cycle up in Loveland.

Bummer…
