What have you done to your bike this week?

The EVO Oregon Suspension base valve kit is probably sufficient. The reason I went with TeKNik was so that I didn’t have to remove the peening to disassemble the compression cartridge valve body.

The TekNik kit replaces all the valve bodies. Once assembled correctly the stock compression cartridge valve is supposed to work fine from what I have read. There might be a slight difference in the adjustment sensitivity with the TekNik valves vs stock.

The new base valves make the bigger difference and that’s what Evo Oregon Suspension sells along with their springs, which are the same dimensions as stock, but straight rate like what come on the new Rally model Tuareg.

Straight rate springs make the bike sit taller in the stroke than the progressive rate springs.

  • Installed Tuareg Rally wheels, tires, and high front fender kit.
  • Replaced stock (ball bearing) head bearings with roller pin bearing kit.
  • Installed Scotts steering damper with Muller Motorsports mount kit.
  • Greased rear linkage and swingarm bearings. There did not appear to be any grease on them from the factory, shipping oil only! Luckily the bike has not seen much water and the bearings and bushings were all in good condition.

I came here to rave about my newly installed Scott’s steering stabilizer, and now I see some of you raving about the same! I can’t believe I waited 3 years to do this. I have not done too much on it yet, because I was riding a 501 for the big rides in Ouray, but it has still impressed the shit out of me. Also that 501 I was riding had a Scott’s on it as well. It was pretty awesome to have on Mineral Creek and other super chunky rides.

Yeah, it’s a game changer. Both bikes have one now.

Especially useful in sand and rocky climbs.

Scotts headquarters was about 20 minutes from my place in SoCal and they had a small, very specialized DS and ADV retail space. One of the guys rebuilt a carb for me at the checkout counter.

Good to support a relatively small business.

Didn’t take a picture yet but I mounted a Scotts damper on my Tuareg. Big improvement, especially in loose rocks. I run their bigger aluminum adjuster knob in place of the plastic thingy too. Makes it easier to grip with heavier gloves on. The damping action and adjustment range of the Scotts feels better to me than the GPR damper I have on my TM.

I recently installed some EvoOregon springs in my CFMoto 450 forks. They’re matched to my weight and straight rate. Much better ride.

Straight rate EvoOregon springs are in my Tuareg forks. Unlike the T7 springs from other companies that are claimed to fit the Tuareg the EvoOregon springs are actually the same dimensions as the stock springs, so no additional spacers are needed to make them work.

Fueling dongle on my ‘22 KTM 690 - trying to richen up the air:fuel a bit to make the throttle more manageable on slower/techy stuff AND hoping it’ll help everything run cooler, too - seems like my radiator fan is on a LOT. Rottweiler is sending me 2 more dongles, as the current one triggers the check-engine light. Anyone else work through these same problems a different way on a 701 or a 690? Also curious what other problems/solutions y’all have had with these bikes.

On my ‘24 701 I put on the Rottweiler PC6, swapped to a wings exhaust, and Rade intake, and it runs a lot cooler now and lugs quite a bit better. No issues. Fan runs significantly less.

Yup, downside of the 390 platform. I’ve seen some move it higher. But doubt most of the audience for this bike will ever have issues. It keeps it in the same foot-warmer location of many ADV’s.

This has been more of an ongoing project since returning from my 12 Day TAT trip I took at the end of August to early September.
Towards the end of this trip I started having trouble starting my bike in the mornings but once running was fine the rest of the day. This issue worsened and even after replacing the battery, and multiple jump start attempts, it required being pull started behind my buddies bike to start it. Again, once running it was fine the rest of the day.
I had a similar issue during last year’s TAT trip where the bike died and wouldn’t start requiring it to be towed home. This ended up being the stator failing. This time the bike didn’t completely die but was showing similar symptoms and I was just glad I completed the trip (total 2640 miles).
So while I’m waiting on my Ricks Hot Shot Stator to arrive (currently back ordered) I installed a Rottweiler performance air intake with foam filter/pre filter due to the dust I found in the air box after this trip. I also updated my rectifier to a serial type to reduce the load on the stator and improve the efficiency of the rectifier/charging system. While replacing the stator I’ll replace the crank position sensor as they’re known to fail as well. This will make the second stator I’ve replaced but decided to use a heavy duty one instead of an OEM one this time.
This is why I’ve been off the radar the last few weeks being without a bike.
